Bruce Valdez is the Executive Director of the Southern Ute Indian Tribe Growth Fund, a position
he was appointed to by the Southern Ute Tribal Council on February 28, 2005.
In 1981, Mr. Valdez enlisted in the United States Army and served a two year tour in Germany.
Mr. Valdez returned to Ft. Stewart, Georgia and was Honorably Discharged in 1985.
In 1988, Mr. Valdez began employment with Arco Oil and Gas and worked in the oil field
south of Farmington, New Mexico before being transferred to Colorado when the Fruitland
Coal De-gas Project started.
In 1994, the Southern Ute Indian Tribe started their own oil and gas company, Red Willow
Production Company. Mr. Valdez agreed to assist in the formation of Red Willow Production
with Robert Zahradnik and Robert Santistevan. At the time of his appointment to
Executive Director of the Growth Fund, Mr. Valdez was the Vice President of Operations
for Red Willow Production Company.
Mr. Valdez serves as the Alternate Tribal Representative for the Council Energy Resource
Tribes (CERT). He also sits on the National Petroleum Committee, the Red Cedar
Gathering Management Committee, and the Southern Ute Information Technology Steering
